Your FERS Maximization Plan 

A 4-step process showing how you can improve retirement success.

Step #1 - Schedule a 30 minute call

A 30-minute phone call will give us both a chance to make sure your situation matches our expertise.

Step #2 - Prepare your documents

We will review your Leave and Earnings Statement, Your TSP Statement, Your Social Security Statements, Investment Statements Outside of the TSP, Life Insurance, Long Term Care Insurance, Mortgage and Debt Information, If Applicable, we will request many of these same documents for your spouse.   We will also ask you to provide written information about your financial planning goals and concerns.  

Step #3 - EMoney integration and detailed reports with financial outlooks

Prior to our In-Person Meeting at our office in Bloomington, MN we will ask you to provide us the documents in Step #2 (Zoom is also available).  During the meeting we will integrate your information into eMoney to give you a detailed picture of how you are tracking to reach your goals, your retirement, and make recommendations for investment distribution planning in retirement.   We will provide you access to the eMoney platform so that you can do additional financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and more from the comfort of your own internet portal.  

There are multiple companies that offer financial planning software.  In our experience, eMoney provides the most comprehensive, client friendly tool that is available to Certified Financial Planners and their clients.  

Step #4  - Making a mutual decision about partnering for financial planning & retirement

At the end of this process, we will simply ask you to think about it if we are a good fit for each other.  We are looking for long-term relationships with our clients, not a quick transaction.  There is never a hard-sell or pressure to say "yes."  While we believe that we are a very good fit for Federal Employees seeking long term financial planning advice we want it to be a mutual decision between our firm and new clients that we will work well together.  

Becoming a client of our firm

During the 30 Minute Introductory Meeting we will answer any financial planning questions that we can reasonably advise on during a short meeting.  The 30 Minute Meeting is Free.  To move onto steps 2-4 we can work in one of two ways:

  • For people wishing to become clients so that we can provide ongoing money management and financial planning advice we ask that the new clients have $500k or more of investable assets that can be invested with our firm.  For these new clients there are never any hourly fees.  We agree to meet annually and more in the busier years (retirement, life events).  We are compensated by charging an Assets Under Management Fee that is deducted from your investments that we are managing.  
  • For people who do not meet our minimum investable assets of $500k we can meet 1-2 times at a cost of $500 per meeting.  Our meetings take one to two hours to provide you with a full written analysis with reports and recommendations.  We offer this option as a way to help people and are limited to doing it 1 to 2 times.  Innovate Financial reserves the rights to make exceptions to these options.
