Tax Forms Resources

Tax Forms Resources:

Between January and April every year we are contacted by our clients for Tax Forms.  This page is designed to help people locate their tax forms with information about who will receive a Tax Form each year:

Question:  Do I have tax forms coming from my accounts with you?

Answer:

IRA Rollovers, IRA's, Roth IRA's Clients (Qualified Accounts):

If you made a withdrawal from your IRA's or Roth IRA's with us in the prior year you will receive a 1099-R that you need to report.

If you did not make a withdrawal from your IRA or Roth IRA with us in the prior year you will not receive a 1099-R and there is nothing to report.

If you made contributions, not Rollovers, to an IRA or Roth IRA with us you will not receive a form and you should report that you made a contribution on your tax return.  Again, IRA Rollovers from 401k's, TSP's and other Employer Retirement Plans do not need to be reported.  You only have to report IRA Contributions and Roth IRA Contributions if you added money to your IRA/Roth by check or bank ACH contributions.

The 1099-R's are usually available by mid to late January.

Non Qualified Taxable Accounts for Individual and Joint Accounts (Not IRA or Roth IRA type money):

This is only for accounts that do not have a IRA or Roth IRA wrapper on it.  Generally speaking, these are Individual, Joint or Trust owned accounts.  You do have to report all activity in these accounts on an annual basis.  This is why these accounts are known as "Taxable" Accounts.  You will receive a 1099 from the investment company and because the reporting requirements on these accounts are more extensive you will usually not receive your 1099 until late February.   Please note that the 1099 can be 20+ pages and that all activity is summarized on the first few pages.  You are not required to report every individual transaction and can use the Summary Information.
